What makes us so different here at Healthy Kids?

  • Healthy Kids is a company, but behind the company is Dr. Gardner, a board certified pediatrician and a mom.
  • We are a family-centered program and team work is emphasized on our program. Your child is never left to “go at it alone,” and is never made to feel blamed or responsible for poor eating or exercise habits, or excess weight.
  • We believe change starts with the parent(s) and the program begins by educating parents. Once the parents are on board, we involve the children in the process of change.
  • We create an environment for change by optimizing parenting and leadership skills because we believe that for families to develop and maintain healthy lifestyle habits family relationships must be healthy. Parenting style is identified and optimized, effective leadership skills are reviewed, and parents are given effective discipline strategies for those times when kids inevitably stray off course.
  • We create an environment for change by drawing on recognized behavioral modification techniques to help employ lasting behavioral change in children.
  • We create an environment for change during mealtime by bringing structure and importance to meals using the Division of Responsibility and our EAT Principles. Our Family Food Manners and Family Contract sets the stage for how the family should be treating each other and food during meals, reestablishing harmony during mealtime.
  • We create an environment for change by helping children manage stress and build self esteem. Child relaxation techniques, daily journaling, and exercises exploring how mood effects behavior help create a calming environment conducive to change. Self esteem building exercises help children view themselves more positively and increase self acceptance.
  • Our self guided weekly program, calendar, checklists, and family meeting agendas take the guess work out of program implementation.
  • Member Webinars with Q&A session allows you to dive into select topics in more detail with Dr. Gardner.
  • Personal support is available when you need it. Parent members can schedule family strategy sessions with Dr. Gardner where she reviews important program concepts, helps set realistic family goals, answers questions, and addresses concerns.
  • The Healthy Me Grand Prix Challenge is our fun and innovative online game to teach, promote, and track better eating and activity habits.
  • The Fill up with Premium Healthy Eating Plan uses a simple engine and fuel analogy to teach your child how to differentiate between premium, mid-grade and low grade foods.
  • We focus on maintaining or re-establishing the ability to recognize and listen to the body’s internal hunger gauge.
  • Walk a Mile in My Shoes Program encourages kids to get active with an activity buddy and walk 2000 extra steps (1 mile) each day.
  • Food for Thought Labs encourage food exploration and provide an age appropriate introduction to food science. In our Dairy Lab kids learn to make cheese, in the Dough Lab children bake—then break—their own bread, in the spice lab kids learn about and taste spices from around the world, in our Sugar Lab kids reduce Coke® to a syrup to learn how much added sugar it contains, and in our Fruit and Vegetable Lab kids explore the difference between them (think you know the difference?) and participate in fun produce projects.
  • An Eating Creed Indeed, Indeed! is our beautifully illustrated children’s ebook. Tag along with Nicholas, Evangeline and their dog Layla as they teach younger brother William the simple rules of healthy food choices, wise portion size and the importance of family meals.
  • Color Me Healthy™ Coloring Pages help younger kids learn how to eat a varied, colorful diet from the healthy fruit and vegetable rainbow.
  • Color Me Healthy™ Bingo to keep kids engaged in healthy eating choices
  • We believe in the specialness of childhood and do not want our program to interfere with this! Kids will always be kids on the program.
  • Doctors are committed to life long learning and self improvement. This quality, that you never stop learning, growing, and improving is a commitment that doctors make to their patients and as a physician founded company this is our commitment to you—we will never stop innovating, improving and working hard on behalf of parents and kids.
