The weight management program is our wellness program with extra instruction for families with weight management concerns, therefore the entire family should participate, regardless of age or weight. This “team” mentality will take pressure off overweight family members and offer support and encouragement. No one feels singled out as having a “problem” because everyone’s goal is the same: to eat healthier and become more fit and active. No “dieting” is involved, only better food choices and increased activity!
Regardless of age, healthy weight sibling participants should have the goal of healthier eating and lifestyle habits, not weight maintenance or loss. If a family member does not wish to participate, this is ok. However, they are not able to participate in the family reward system. Once this is explained, many sibs choose to participate!
